What is hyaluronic acid?
Hyaluronic acid is a molecule that naturally occurs in the skin. Its remarkable properties include very high viscoelasticity and a very high hydrating power: it is particularly responsible for the skin’s elasticity. Hyaluronic acid has many therapeutic applications, such as alleviating certain forms of arthritis. In aesthetic medicine, it is mainly used for its filling and volumizing effect.
The Effects of Hyaluronic Acid Injections
- Fill in deep wrinkles (frown lines, nasolabial folds, marionette lines),
- Fill in surface wrinkles (crow’s feet, perioral area),
- Fill in hollow under-eye circles,
- Restore volume to the temples or cheeks,
- Redefine the contours of the lips,
- Redefine the oval of the face,
- Plump up the lips,
- Reshape the cheekbones.
Moreover, its hydrating properties improve the skin tone and firmness.
The Procedure for Injection Sessions
While hyaluronic acid injections are simple and fast to perform, they remain a medical procedure that changes the appearance of your face. Therefore, they are carried out by our physician who is qualified in Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgery.
- Step 1: Preliminary medical consultation,
- Step 2: Injection session lasting 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the number of areas to be treated.
After the session, there is no social downtime expected. The face may show some redness, easily concealable with a little makeup, which will disappear on its own the day after the injection session.
The first effects are immediate. However, the final result can be appreciated after a few days, lasting between 9 and 12 months.
Hyaluronic acid injections, like all our aesthetic medicine treatments, are available exclusively for patients staying at Clinique Lémana.
