    Abhyanga massage

The ayurveda practice is based on ancient beliefs in traditional Indian medicine. The Ayurvedic abhyanga massage is generally practiced using warm oil and makes it possible to reach a state of deep relaxation.

What is an Abhyanga massage?

Abhyanga is a synchronized massage of the body with oils which follows the movements of the bloodstream. The scientific reason for this practice is to increase blood circulation, supplying the extremities of the body and facilitating the work of the heart.

The Ayurvedic bhyanga massage is therefore a harmonizing massage because in taking care of the body physically, it ensures our spiritual well-being thanks to the circulation of vital energy (the prana). It acts on the seven energy centers of the body known as chakras.

It is generally summarized then, as a massage that restores physical and spiritual harmony. It can prevent certain disorders and soothe the body and mind as a whole.

What are the benefits of abhyanga massage?

The first benefit of the Ayurvedic Abhyanga massage is the deep relaxation it procures. It also helps to restore mood balance, reduce stress, limit the accumulation of toxins, and even nourish the body.

Scientific observation of Ayurvedic massage has led to a non-exhaustive list of its benefits:

  • Improved sleep and reduced fatigue (especially chronic)
  • Better circulation of oxygen to the tissues
  • Evacuation of stress
  • Toning of the skin
  • Relaxation of tissues and muscles
  • Improvement of blood circulation
  • Optimization of lymphatic and hormonal circulation
  • Softening of the joints
  • Improvement of concentration

What are the contraindications to abhyanga?

Abhyanga is different from other massages because it systematically requires the use of oil to massage the body. Moreover, unlike other massages performed mainly for their recreational and relaxing aspects, Abhyanga is a therapeutic procedure.
